This gorgeous garden was built by New York Restoration Project, a great organization building community gardens and supporting the community steward parks and gardens, promoting food sovereignty, and countering environmental and social injustice throughout the five boroughs for 25 years. NYRP built our first garden in St. John’s, Brooklyn, in 2015, and they continue to be a tremendous supporter of Garden Kitchen Lab; we are grateful to have them.
At Hunts Point, we had community support; Diane Bliffeld, our star volunteer, taught the program, and Alejandra Defín helped maintain the grounds, and by the look of this site, we think she did a beautiful job. Of course, none of this would be possible without the help of the Hunts Point recreation staff; it is all about teamwork!
