Our St. John’s garden is very special to us; it was our first, and we were able to develop the curriculum with the after-school children and with the local community support. Another critical component to our success was the support of the St. John’s Recreation Center staff.
Earlier in the spring of 2021, NYC Parks Greenthumb built a new beautiful garden for us, and for the time, the Garden Kitchen Lab organization hired its first staff. For two years, Jasmine Herndon worked as an Environmental Conservation Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay. She taught a gardening and composting class to young children and started volunteering for her community garden in Brooklyn. Jasmine was raised on garden-to-table meals and spent hours creating delicious recipes every day in her kitchen.
